For the first time after the year 2014, a meeting of the Uttarakhand Language Institute was held at the Secretariat under the chairmanship of the Chief Minister. While presiding over the meeting of the Management Executive and General Body of the Institute, Chief Minister Pushkar Singh Dhami, for the first time in the year 2023-24, on behalf of the state government, in folk languages ​​and folk literature, Kumaoni, Garhwali, other dialects and dialects of Uttarakhand, Punjabi and Urdu. Announced to confer Uttarakhand Sahitya Gaurav Samman every year for long-term excellent literature creation and continuous literary service and excellent epic / short poem composition in Hindi, poetry composition, fiction and other prose genres. Along with this, 4 budding budding writers in Garhwali, Kumaoni and Jaunsari three folk languages ​​and Hindi language will be honored every year. Excellent writers will be honored with the above awards by organizing a grand ceremony in the coming month of May. Along with this, Chief Minister Dhami also approved the proposal of giving partial grant as financial assistance to such creators of Uttarakhand, who are unable to publish their books due to lack of funds.

Chief Minister Dhami also gave instructions to organize national and international language conferences in every district of the state. This will be a multi-faceted scheme of the Institute of Languages, in which reading of research papers, exchange of ideas related to language, literary procession, folk language conference, etc. will be organised. Chief Minister Pushkar Singh Dhami also directed to set up digital/e-libraries in 01 primary school in each district of the state. In the meeting, approval was also given to organize a book fair in the state in collaboration with the National Book Trust and organize literary seminars in the book fair. Along with this, lectures by well-known writers will be organized across the state. Chief Minister Dhami said that our folk languages ​​and dialects are our identity and pride. The state government is making continuous efforts for the protection and promotion of local languages, dialects and culture.

In the meeting, an agreement was also reached on the publication of literary and research journals by the Uttarakhand Bhasha Sansthan. Along with this, approval was also given for organizing workshops and training programs for standardization of folk languages. Concerned officials said that Garhwali, Kumaoni and Jaunsari dialects are spoken and written differently in different areas of Uttarakhand, in whose writing there is an orthographic difference of words. There is a great need for standardization of orthography and spelling of Garhwali and Kumaoni dialect. These camps will be organized in Garhwal and Kumaon divisions. District and state level linguistic competition will be organized in Uttarakhand by Uttarakhand Bhasha Sansthan.
