Uttar Pradesh: Internet shutdown in Saharanpur till further orders

In view of the apprehension of clash between two societies in Saharanpur, the administration has ordered to shut down the internet from May 29 (Monday) till further orders. A letter has also been issued by the District Magistrate Saharanpur office regarding this matter. In which it has been told that the Gaurav Yatra is proposed to be held unanimously on Monday (May 29) at Rajesh Pilot/Samrat Mihir Bhoj Chowk, Tehsil Nakud, located in village Fandpuri, under police station Nakud, from 9 am. On the other hand, there is a lot of anger in the Gurjar community due to the Rajput community objecting to the Gurjar Pratihar Samrat Mihir Bhoj Gaurav Yatra. Due to which there is a strong possibility of a situation of conflict between Rajput society and Gurjar society.

Along with this, it is being told that due to the new tradition, the Gaurav Yatra was not allowed by the district administration, but there is a strong possibility of this yatra. In order to maintain public order in view of the current situation, all the Internet and messaging/social media (2G/3G/4G/Edge/GPRS/SMS) facilities available in the mobile network of all the telecom service providers within the district Saharanpur from May 29 till further orders. Banned with immediate effect.

It has been told by the District Magistrate that this order has been taken to prevent peace and public tranquility from being disturbed. It has been said on behalf of the administration that in case of disobedience of these orders, action can be taken against the guilty person under section 188 of the Indian Penal Code. Along with this, this order has also been asked to be pasted on the notice boards of police station offices and tehsil headquarters, railway stations, bus stands and other offices.
