Uttarakhand: Every religious place has its own tradition and dignity, accordingly one should come there wearing decent clothes – President BKTC
Shri Badrinath-Kedarnath Temple Committee President Ajendra Ajay said that every religious place has its own tradition and dignity. According to that one should behave decently there and come wearing decent clothes. Ajendra Ajay said this on a question related to a statement of Mahanirvani Akhara.
Media persons had asked him that Mahanirvani Akhara has said that if men and women are coming to the temples then 80 percent of their body should be covered. Everyone should take care of dignity. In response to this question, Ajendra said that every religious place has its own beliefs and norms.
There should be conduct and dress according to the same environment. The difference between tourism and religious travel has to be understood. Naturally, if you are going on a pilgrimage to a religious place, your dress should be modest. This is a matter related to the faith of millions of people of those religious places where you are going on a pilgrimage. No one has the right to tamper with the recognition of religious places. One should go there only by wearing modest conduct, behavior and clothes.
In Haridwar too, there is a ban on coming to the temple wearing short clothes
Women and girls coming to the Daksh Prajapati temple in Haridwar wearing short clothes can be stopped from darshan. Akhil Bhartiya Akhara Parishad President and Panchayati Akhara Mahanirvani Secretary Shrimahant Ravindrapuri has released a video in this regard for the devotees. Shrimahant appealed that women and girls should come to the temple for darshan only by wearing clothes covering 80 percent of their body.
The President of the Akhara Parishad said that there is a need to be alert about the trend going on in the society these days. The clothes of the mothers, sisters and daughters who come to the temple should be properly dressed. Many times people feel uncomfortable seeing women and girls coming to the temple wearing short clothes, which does not send a good message to the society. He said that there will be a crowd of devotees in the temple during the Kanwar fair.
Mahant said that young children are attracted towards all kinds of evil. It is necessary to curb this. The family members of the children should explain to them. Srimahant said that he has appealed many times before to come to the temple wearing body-covering clothes, but now he is issuing the appeal again in view of the Kanwar fair. Only those who come to the temple wearing clothes covering 80 percent of their body will be allowed to have darshan.
