Canada Open: Sindhu got a walkover against Japan’s Nidaira, Lakshya Sen made it to the quarterfinals
Two-time Olympic champion PV Sindhu and Birmingham Commonwealth Games winner Lakshya Sen have entered the quarterfinals of the Canada Open Super 500 badminton tournament. Fourth seed Sindhu, ranked 15th in the world, got a walkover from Japan’s Natsuki Nidaira in the pre-quarterfinals. At the same time, Lakshya easily defeated Brazil’s Ygor Coelho 21-15, 21-11.
Sindhu will take on China’s Gao
Sindhu will face China’s Gao Feng Jie, who won the Indonesia Masters title last year, in the quarterfinals. World No. 45 Gao played a key role in helping China win the Asia Mixed Team Championships title.
Lakshya to play qualifier Julian
In front of Lakshya will be qualifier Julien Caragi of Belgium in the quarter-finals. On the other hand, the pair of Krishna Prasad and Vishnuvardhan Goud had to face defeat in the pre-quarterfinals. They went down 9-21, 11-21 to second seeds and world number seven Mohammad Ehsan and Hendra Setiawan.
