Tamim Iqbal Retirement: Retirement in 12 hours, U-turn in 24 hours, changed decision after meeting PM Sheikh Hasina

The drama related to the captaincy in the Bangladesh Cricket Board has once again reached a new level. Bangladesh’s ODI captain Tamim Iqbal, who retired from international cricket a day earlier, changed his decision within 24 hours and canceled the decision of retirement. According to information, Tamim has taken this decision on the advice of Bangladesh Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina. Tamim had met the Prime Minister after announcing his retirement.

Tamim Iqbal surprised everyone by suddenly announcing his retirement from international cricket a day earlier i.e. on 6th July. Tamim told about his decision in a press conference in Dhaka. While talking about retirement, he suddenly started crying. This decision of Tamim created a stir in Bangladesh cricket.

Meeting with PM, scolded, decision reversed

This decision of Tamim came immediately after the defeat of Bangladesh. On Wednesday, July 5, Afghanistan defeated Bangladesh in the first ODI. Tamim gave this decision only 12 hours after this defeat. However, on his decision, Bangladesh Cricket Board President Nazmul Hasan had expressed a strong reaction and said that this decision is not correct. Hasan expressed hope that Tamim would change his decision.

On Friday, Tamim took back his decision. Tamim met the country’s Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina, where former Bangladesh veteran captain Mashrafe Mortaza was also present with him. Tamim announced his retirement after meeting the PM. In a conversation with reporters, he told that the PM had called him and scolded him and asked him to withdraw his retirement. Tamim said that he could not avoid talking to the PM.

Got a break of one and a half month

Tamim Iqbal was struggling with fitness problems for some time and due to which the chairman of the board raised questions on him. Now Tamim has told that the Prime Minister has also given him time to complete his treatment by taking a break of one and a half months, after which he will return to the team and play an important role for the team in the Asia Cup and then in the World Cup.
