Rain wreaks havoc in Uttarakhand, somewhere landslide occurred and somewhere the whole area was flooded, 122 roads closed

According to the forecast of Meteorological Center Dehradun, heavy rains are continuing in many districts of Garhwal and Kumaon, including the capital Dehradun, due to which waterlogging is being seen at many places in the plains. Many rural roads along the Rishikesh Badrinath Highway are closed due to debris at various places. In view of the heavy rains, the government and the administration of all the districts are on alert. Efforts are being made to open the roads closed due to rain.

Rishikesh Badrinath Highway is closed in Chamoli district. 22 rural roads including 8 rural roads in Uttarkashi, one highway in Dehradun district, two state roads and one main district road are closed. Two state roads, one district road and 13 rural roads are closed in Pauri. 5 rural roads in Almora, 2 rural roads in Champawat, 8 rural roads in Rudraprayag are closed due to damage to Mayali Tilwada State Road bridge.

5 rural roads in Tehri, 3 rural roads in Nainital, 33 rural roads in Bageshwar, 14 rural roads including one border in Pithoragarh are closed. So in Uttarkashi and Pithoragarh districts, power supply to 12 villages is interrupted due to damage to the 11 KV line. Many roads submerged in Dehradun: Heavy rains continue in the capital Dehradun as well. Due to heavy rains, roads have been submerged at many places, due to which people are facing problems in movement.

Due to lack of proper arrangement of drainage system in the city, two wheeler drivers are facing the most problems. SDRF rescues two youths from the river: Kho river, Malan river and Sukhrau river in Kotdwar are in spate since morning. Two youths of Kotdwar got stuck on the island of Sukhrao this morning. The police team is continuously patrolling the banks of the river and cautioning the people.

870 cusecs of water released in Kosi river

870 cusecs of water has been released from Almora to Kosi river, for which the Ramnagar administration has issued an alert in the plains. The police and the administration have instructed the villagers to be cautious and not to go near the Kosi river. Along with this, the Irrigation Department has also instructed the employees to be alert in the plains. Along with that people living near Kosi river have also been alerted.

Rain became a disaster in Chamoli

In Chamoli, the rain is wreaking havoc on the people. The bridge connecting Dhingrad village of Nandnagar block of the district has been damaged due to the spate of Chuflagad river. After the information about the damage caused by heavy rains, the administration team has left for the spot. Due to heavy rains, debris has come on National Highway 534 between Dugadda-Amsaud. The highway has been blocked due to debris. NHAI (National Highways Authority of India) Executive Engineer Arvind Joshi told that debris is coming on the road due to landslides. Two JCB machines have been installed between Kotdwar Dugadda. Every possible effort is being made to open the route.

Karnprayag – Gwaldam National Highway blocked

At the same time, due to the washout of the Karnprayag-Gwaldam National Highway Mauna Chida, there is no way for people to even walk on foot. The Karnprayag-Gwaldam National Highway around Mauna near Narayanbagad has been closed due to debris. Due to road washout, there are long queues of vehicles on both sides of the road. The road is being made by cutting the rock by BRO. According to BRO officials, the route will be smooth for the movement of small vehicles by late evening.

Waterlogging in Haridwar and Kashipur

Intermittent torrential rains since morning in Haridwar and Kashipur have led to water-logging at various places in the city. Ratan Cinema Road, Municipal Corporation Road, Main Market, Station Road, Tanda Ujjain, Moradabad Road, Near Design Center, Mohalla Maheshpura’s Pulia, Laxmipur Patti, Kali Basti, Munshiram’s Crossroads, Post Office due to torrential rains for a few hours in Kashipur. Road, Patel Nagar, Punjabi Sarai, Alli Khan and other areas of the city were waterlogged. During this, the situation in the main market was such that water entered inside the shops, due to which the shopkeepers suffered a lot.

Haridwar Rishikesh National Highway Waterlogging

The Haridwar Rishikesh National Highway has turned into a river due to heavy rains in Rishikesh. Due to the water flowing on the road, there was a long jam. People are also facing difficulties in walking. The drainage system has failed in the first rains in Rishikesh. The biggest problem is being seen from old Chungi to Koyal Ghati Degree College on Haridwar Road. Where the river is visible flowing on the road. Due to water and jam on the road, the school children were the most troubled during the vacation.

Near the retail vegetable market on Laxman Jhula Road also faced a lot of problems due to waterlogging. Let me tell you, the Meteorological Department had issued a red alert for heavy rains in Pauri and Nainital last day, while heavy rains occurred at some places in Dehradun, Tehri, Haridwar, Uttarkashi, Rudraprayag, Chamoli, Udham Singh Nagar, Champawat, Almora and Pithoragarh districts. In view of the possibility, Orange Alert was issued.
