Heavy rain warning issued in Uttarakhand, Meteorological Department issued red alert till July 15

Due to continuous rains in Uttarakhand, the situation is getting worse. There are reports of damage from everywhere from the mountains to the plains. There has been an increase in the incidents of landslides on the mountains. Due to increase in the water level in the plains, the rivers have taken a fierce form. Waterlogging problems have also arisen in many places in the plains. The special thing is that the Meteorological Department has issued a red alert till July 15. Disaster Secretary Ranjit Kumar Sinha held a briefing on the state of affairs in the Disaster Control Room on Tuesday morning and after the briefing informed the media.

Ranjit Sinha told that a red alert has been issued till July 15. Also, after continuous rains for the last 3 days, now the next few days can be very challenging. Ranjit Sinha told that he has held talks with the District Magistrates of all the districts. Where the roads are closed, people are being sent through alternate routes. If there is an emergency, it is being sent under the supervision of trained people. He told that the rescue force is being deployed in Dharchula.

Meteorological Department issued rain alert

On the other hand, after the forecast of the Meteorological Department, in the instructions issued by the Uttarakhand Emergency Operation Center, all the districts have been instructed to remain alert. Along with this, instructions have also been given to take all precautions. Due to the heavy rains in Uttarakhand for the last few days, the life of the people has become difficult. Due to the rain, a situation of water-logging has arisen at many places. Alam is that along with all the roads being damaged, the process of landslides is also going on continuously.

Disaster department issued instructions to the districts

  • Traffic control should be exercised while maintaining readiness and security at every level.
  • In the event of any disaster or accident, information should be exchanged immediately while taking immediate terrestrial action.
  • All the designated officers and departmental nodal officers of the disaster management IRS system will remain on high alert.
  • NH, PWD, PMGSY, ADB, BRO, WB, CPWD etc. will ensure that in case of closure of any motorway, it will be opened immediately.
  • All revenue sub-inspectors, village development officers, village panchayat officers will remain in their obstructed areas.
  • All outposts/stations will also be on high alert with disaster related equipment and wireless.
  • Mobile phones of any officer/employee will not remain switched off during this period.
  • Officers will take appropriate action to keep raincoat, umbrella, torch, helmet and some necessary equipment and materials in their vehicles from their own level.
  • Food and medical arrangements should be made in case people are stranded during the said period.
  • In view of the safety of the students, care should be taken in the schools.
  • Tourist movement should not be allowed in high Himalayan regions during abnormal weather, warning of heavy rain.
  • Obstacles of drains and culverts should be removed in the city and town areas.
  • The District Information Officer will ensure that this information is disseminated to the public through visual and print media.
