Uttarakhand / Haldwani: DM’s action on Lalkuan Century Paper Mill pollution- Deputy District Magistrate and Pollution Controller were directed to solve the problem in 10 days after joint inspection, steps were taken on the complaint of the local MLA

- District Magistrate Vandana held a review meeting of the development works being done in Lalkua assembly constituency.
The District Magistrate said that the officers should regularly visit the area and also ensure to inform the public representatives about the visit. He said that the works related to public and public interest should be disposed of on priority basis. He told the officers to work actively, so that the public can get the benefit of the welfare schemes on time. Information was given on the subject of free tests related to the Health Department that free tests are done by Chandan Diagnostic Center. Instructions were given to the health department to mention the list of free tests and the name of the place on the board so that the general public can easily get the information about the tests.
The District Magistrate said that after receiving the checks of financial assistance from the government at the district office, they are sent to the concerned tehsils. Due to non-payment of the check on time by the concerned tehsils, the beneficiary has to face problems after the expiry of the check period. The District Magistrate has instructed all the concerned tehsils to ensure that the checks of financial assistance are made available to the beneficiaries within 15 days.
In the meeting, the MLA told that the life of common people is being affected due to the pollution caused by the Century Paper Mill. The District Magistrate directed the Deputy Collector and the Pollution Controller to conduct a joint inspection and solve the problem within 10 days. The District Magistrate instructed the Executive Engineer Lonivi to prepare a DPR immediately for the improvement of the mining affected road Gora Padav road and repair it.
The District Magistrate has instructed the Sub-Divisional Magistrate for the construction of cow shed for stray animals that such a place should be identified for the stray animals, where fodder, water etc. can be easily provided to the animals. He said that at present open meetings are being organized in the Panchayats, in these meetings the list of SCP dominated areas should be made available to the BDOs under the SCP scheme and the DPR for the proposal of the SCP scheme should be prepared in the open meetings and TAC should be made.
In the Lalkua area, the District Magistrate, after conducting a joint inspection with the Sub-Divisional Officer and the officials of the Forest Department, gave instructions for the solution when the water coming from the forest department’s depot goes to the residential colony during the rainy season. In the Lalkuan Legislative Assembly, out of 237 works under the MLA fund, 80 works are in progress, while the District Magistrate gave instructions to make proposals on the remaining works soon. Monitoring of these works will be done regularly by the DDO.
In the meeting, MLA Lalkuan Dr. Mohan Bisht, Divisional Forest Officer Sandeep Kumar, Additional District Magistrate Ashok Joshi, District Development Officer Gopal Giri, Sub-Divisional Officer Haldwani Manish Singh, District Vice President Dinesh Khulbe, Bindukhatta Mandal President Jagdish Pant, Lalkuan Mandal President Dhan Singh Bisht, Golapar Mandal President Mukesh Belwal etc. were present.
