Former CM of Kerala and veteran Congress leader Oommen Chandy passed away, PM Modi expressed grief by tweeting, Chandy had won 12 consecutive assembly elections

Veteran leader of the Congress party and former Chief Minister of Kerala Oommen Chandy passed away this morning. He was 79 years old. He was undergoing treatment in Bangalore for the last few months. The news of Oommen Chandy’s death was given by his son through a social media post. Oommen Chandy served as the Chief Minister of Kerala during the period 2004–2006, 2011–2016.

Prime Minister Narendra Modi condoled the demise of former Kerala Chief Minister Oommen Chandy. PM Modi tweeted, “With the passing away of Oommen Chandy ji, we have lost a humble and dedicated leader who devoted his life to public service and worked for the progress of Kerala. I remember my various interactions with him, especially when we both served as Chief Ministers of our respective states and later when I moved to Delhi. My thoughts are with his family and supporters in this hour of grief. may his soul rest in peace.”

Kerala Congress President expressed grief over the death of Oommen Chandy

On the other hand, on the death of Oommen Chandy, Kerala Congress President K.K. Sudhakaran has expressed grief by tweeting. He tweeted that former Chief Minister of Kerala and senior Congress leader Oommen Chandy has passed away. He tweeted and wrote, ‘The story of a king who conquered the world with the power of love has a poignant end. Today, I am deeply saddened by the demise of a great man. He impacted the lives of countless individuals and his legacy will forever resonate in our souls.

Kerala CM expressed grief over the death of Oommen Chandy

Kerala Chief Minister Pinarayi Vijayan has expressed deep sorrow over the demise of former Chief Minister Oommen Chandy. He tweeted and said, ‘We were elected to the Legislative Assembly in the same year. In this phase, we came on the political front through student life. We lived a public life at the same time and it is very difficult to bid him farewell. Kerala CM Pinarayi Vijayan said, ‘Oommen Chandy was an able administrator and a person closely associated with the lives of the people.’

Oommen Chandy won 12 assembly elections continuously

Please tell that Oommen Chandy was running ill for a long time. In the year 2019, his health deteriorated. Chandy was taken to Germany after he developed a throat-related illness. Since 1970, he has represented the Puthupalli constituency in the Kerala Legislative Assembly. His son Chandy Omman informed about his father’s death through a social media post on Tuesday i.e. around 5 am today. He used to contest elections from his hometown Puthupalli in Kottayam district. He had won 12 consecutive assembly elections.
