Uproar during saffron yatra in Mewat, Haryana, many injured in stone pelting between two groups, internet shut down

Stone pelting has taken place between two groups in Haryana’s Mewat. Both these groups are being told of different religions. According to media reports, the saffron yatra was going out from Mewat, during which some people of the area pelted stones at it. The glasses of many vehicles were broken in the stone pelting. In the uproar that followed, many vehicles were set ablaze. Eyewitnesses have claimed that aerial firing has also taken place.

A large number of police forces were present on the spot

It is being told that the situation has been brought under control. At the same time, a large number of police administration is also present on the spot. Hundreds of people gathered from both the groups. Police intervened and many police vehicles are also present on the spot. It is said that after the incident, a large number of Bajrang Dal workers gathered there.

Coming from the Nalhad Mahadev Temple in Mewat, the Bhagwa Yatra had reached Nuh Jhanda Park when the dispute started. Meanwhile, stone pelting started in both the groups. During this, the matter of firing and burning of passenger vehicles is also coming to the fore. However, till now there is no response from the administration on this matter.

After the matter came to light, Nuh SP Lokendra Singh himself took charge. The police force of the surrounding districts has been called. With this, IRB has taken the lead. The glasses of several vehicles were broken and one vehicle was set on fire. The situation at the spot remains tense.

Internet turned off

According to information given by the Haryana Police to news agency PTI, stones were pelted and several vehicles set on fire during a religious procession in Nuh district, adjoining Gurugram. During the stone-pelting between the two sides, the police fired tear gas shells to disperse the crowd. Internet service was suspended in the gallery area in view of the tense situation. Police force has also been called from other areas.

According to the police, a group of youths stopped the Brij Mandal Jalabhishek Yatra near Khedla Mor in Nuh and started pelting stones. An official said that “one or two cars” in the procession were also set on fire. According to reports, people in the procession pelted stones at the youths who stopped them. The Jalabhishek Yatra was flagged off by BJP District President Gargi Kakkar from Civil Lines, Gurugram. A contingent of police was also deployed along with the procession.

Police said some people were injured in the clash, but did not give the exact number. According to some claims, the reason for the clash was an alleged objectionable video posted on social media by a Bajrang Dal worker in Ballabhgarh. “The situation is stable in the area,” said Hukam Singh, station in-charge of Nuh.
