Uttarakhand: “Meri Mati Mera Desh” ACS Radha Raturi reviewed the preparations for the program, gave these instructions to the officers

In order to successfully run the ‘Meri Mati Mera Desh’ campaign in the state of Uttarakhand, various departments of the government along with the district administration are working on mission mode. Like across the country, various programs will be organized in Uttarakhand, including Vasudha Vandan, Shilaphalakam (memorial) in this campaign. A meeting was organized today at the secretariat under the chairmanship of Additional Chief Secretary Smt. In the meeting, an in-depth discussion was held on the outline of organizing Meri Mati Mera Desh campaign in the state.

ACS Mrs. Radha Raturi has instructed all the District Magistrates to arrange sufficient number of plants and nursery mapping to ensure plantation in every village of their districts under the Vasudha Vandan program. He said that Forest Department, Horticulture Department, Education Department, Culture Department, Sports Department, Youth Welfare Department, Panchayati Raj Department, Sainik Welfare Department and Information Department will play an important role in the effective implementation of this campaign. The Additional Chief Secretary has instructed the District Magistrates to connect school children, volunteers, voluntary organizations, youth, self-help groups and more and more local people with this campaign. He has given instructions to ensure the participation of self-help groups for making diyas and urns at the district level. Police department has been instructed to organize special march related to Meri Mati Mera Desh campaign and honor the heroes.

Additional Chief Secretary Smt. Radha Raturi emphasized on the importance of Vasudha Vandan and Shilaphalakam. He said that every Gram Panchayat/village will renew and replenish the earth by planting 75 saplings of indigenous species under Vasudha Vandan. The ACS while stressing on the importance of Shilaphalakam said that the basic objective of this program is to express our heartfelt feelings towards all the heroes who have made the supreme sacrifice for the country. He has requested all the District Magistrates to ensure maximum public participation in this event, as well as request people from all walks of life to participate in this program in large numbers.

It was informed in the meeting that under Meri Mati Mera Desh Abhiyan in the state, memorials in the name of martyred heroes will be built on the banks of Amrit Sarovar, other water bodies, panchayat offices, schools or other important public places in every gram panchayat between August 9 and 15.
