Uttarakhand: Chief Secretary Dr. S.S. Sandhu reviews Kedarnath reconstruction works, instructs UPCL to ensure uninterrupted and stable power availability

Chief Secretary Dr. S.S. Sandhu instructed UPCL to ensure uninterrupted and stable power availability during the review of Kedarnath reconstruction works at the Secretariat. The Chief Secretary also instructed the officers to send regular reports to the Chief Secretary’s office about the time the work was interrupted due to power cut. He also instructed to install electric poles and other equipment from the month of September.

The Chief Secretary directed to prepare a system to ensure the quality of the cover works in Kedarnath reconstruction works. He said that the best technology, experts and materials should be used for the use of cover material according to the harsh environment of Kedarnath. He directed to prepare DPRs of all the buildings in the next one week to speed up the works on Central Street. He directed the District Magistrate Rudraprayag to make all the sites available to the contractors at the earliest.

Expressing his displeasure over the shortage of essential construction materials, the Chief Secretary also directed to prepare pert charts of all the works. He said that along with necessary construction materials, availability of skilled labor in appropriate numbers should be ensured to complete all the works within stipulated time. As soon as there is a shortage of construction material, it should be informed at a higher level so that the availability of construction material can be ensured. The Chief Secretary gave instructions to take action against the contractors who were lax in the works. On this occasion, Secretary Dr. Pankaj Kumar Pandey, ACEO UTDB Yugal Kishore Pant and Additional Secretary Vineet Kumar and other high officials were present.
