Police said that a total of 13 kg gold biscuits were seized. Two accused have also been arrested in this case, while one smuggler absconded and is being searched. Police said that the three accused were carrying smuggled gold biscuits in a car. During this time, seeing the police lagging behind, all three left the car and ran away.

Bhadohi SP Meenakshi Katyayan said that when these smugglers who were running away after seeing the police were caught, gold biscuits worth Rs 8 crore were recovered from them. According to Bhadohi SP, he had received information that three persons were carrying a huge quantity of smuggled gold biscuits in a car. As soon as the information was received, checking and barriers were installed at various places. During this time the car was seen and the police chased it and tried to stop it. The occupants of the car abandoned the car and ran away on the way in Bhadohi Kotwali area. The Crime Branch team, which was searching for the three smugglers who fled from the spot, arrested two accused, Rahul and Deepak, residents of Maharashtra, and recovered 12 gold biscuits worth more than 13 kg from them. The arrested accused are being interrogated regarding the gold biscuits. SP said that he had received this information from an agency and this action has been taken with that agency. Further action is being taken by the agency.
47 percent increase in gold smuggling in the country
It is noteworthy that according to a report in March this year, 3502 kg of smuggled gold was seized in the country last year, which is 47 percent more than in the year 2021. Of these, maximum seizures were made in the state of Kerala. According to government data, various government agencies had seized 2,383.38 kg of gold in the year 2021. At the same time, in the year 2020, 2,154.58 kg of smuggled gold was seized. It was reported in the data that 916.37 kg of gold has been seized in the first two months of the year 2023.
