Uttarakhand: Many contenders in BJP from Pauri Lok Sabha seat, many veterans also included in the queue
BJP has started preparations for the Lok Sabha elections. In BJP, more than one contender is coming forward on all five seats of the state. If we talk about Pauri seat, then out of the five Lok Sabha seats, the biggest contenders and big faces are seen staking their claim from here.
From former Chief Minister, former MP to ministers also in the queue
While two former Chief Ministers are said to be contenders for the Pauri Lok Sabha seat, a former MP is also in the race. While the name of a Rajya Sabha MP also remains a topic of discussion in the list of candidates. Along with this, the names of two ministers of Dhami cabinet are also in discussions regarding the name of the candidate.
Whose ticket will be deducted and who will get it?
This time there are discussions that the ticket of current MP Tirath Singh Rawat may be cut from Pauri Lok Sabha seat. If the party brainstorms on the names of candidates for Pauri Lok Sabha seat, then the name of Tirath Singh Rawat is expected to be discussed first. Because Tirath Singh Rawat is considered one of the strong pillars of the party in Uttarakhand. It is believed that because he has also held the command of State President of the party, being a former Chief Minister, his claim on Pauri Lok Sabha seat also seems strong.
Former Chief Minister Trivendra Singh Rawat is also claiming the ticket from Pauri Lok Sabha seat. Ever since former Chief Minister Trivendra Singh Rawat stepped down from the post of Chief Minister, the party has not given him any major responsibility. Therefore, it is believed that the party can field Tirath Singh Rawat from Pauri Lok Sabha seat. In such a situation, Trivendra Singh Rawat himself is contesting for Pauri Lok Sabha seat.
The name of Rajya Sabha MP is also being discussed
Rajya Sabha MP Anil Baluni’s name is also being discussed as a candidate. Since Anil Baluni’s tenure as Rajya Sabha MP is going to be completed in 2024, it is believed that this time the party can field him as a Lok Sabha candidate instead of Rajya Sabha.
Cabinet minister in Dhami government, Satpal Maharaj, who has also been a former MP from Pauri Lok Sabha seat, is also being considered as a contender for Pauri Lok Sabha seat because it is believed that Satpal Maharaj will fit into the equations of the high command at the Centre. If he sits, then the BJP high command can open the way for him to Delhi by fielding him from Pauri Lok Sabha seat.
Cabinet Minister Dhan Singh Rawat is also being seen as a candidate from Pauri Lok Sabha seat. However, Cabinet Minister Dhan Singh Rawat is completely rejecting his claim. But there is a discussion within BJP that Dhan Singh Rawat is also included in the list of Lok Sabha candidates.
Name of BJP state president also in discussions
Shaurya Doval, son of National Security Advisor Ajit Doval, who has been contending for the Pauri Lok Sabha seat for a long time, is also said to be a contender. Sharya Doval was said to be a contender for the Pauri Lok Sabha seat in 2014 and 2019 also. But both the times he did not get the ticket but this time again he is seen as a contender.
The name of BJP state president Mahendra Bhatt is also being discussed as the Lok Sabha candidate. Because in the 2019 Lok Sabha elections, while being the state president, the party high command had made Union Minister of State Ajay Bhatt the candidate from Nainital Lok Sabha seat. Along with this, Colonel Ajay Kothiyal who is holding the responsibility of state spokesperson in BJP. His claim is also being said regarding Pauri Lok Sabha seat.
Two women candidates also in queue for Pauri seat
If we talk about the names of women candidates, two women can be seen as candidates within BJP for Pauri Lok Sabha seat. The first name among them is that of Assembly Speaker Ritu Khanduri, who is also an MLA from Kotdwar and the way her father BC Khanduri has dominated the Pauri Lok Sabha seat. So maybe the party can discuss his name also. So that the life support of BC Khanduri remains in the BJP’s side in the same manner.
National General Secretary of BJP Mahila Morcha, Deepti Rawat is also considered a strong contender for Pauri Lok Sabha seat. Party leaders say that Deepti Rawat is presenting a strong claim for the Pauri Lok Sabha seat. Deepti Rawat’s ticket for the 2022 assembly elections was finalized but due to some reasons the party did not make her a candidate at the last moment after the ticket was finalized. In such a situation, the way Deepti Rawat is claiming the Pauri Lok Sabha seat, it is being believed that in the eyes of the High Command, Deepti Rawat’s name can be discussed as a strong candidate and also as a woman candidate.
