The woman died on December 8, 2022 due to illness, but her two daughters did not perform the last rites. Breaking all relations with family and society, two real sisters became imprisoned in the house and kept the skeleton of their deceased mother’s body hidden in the house for a year. 27 year old Pallavi and 19 year old Vaishnavi were living with their mother who had died a year ago. Pallavi and Vaishnavi’s mother Usha Tiwari died on December 8, 2022, but the sisters had told their neighbors and relatives that they had performed her last rites.

On getting information about the matter, the police of Lanka police station reached the spot on Wednesday and broke the locks on three doors of the house and went inside. The skeleton was taken out and both the daughters were also brought out of the house. The woman’s clothes, slippers, bedsheet, quilt etc. have been seized as evidence.

The incident took place in Madarvan of Lanka police station area of Varanasi. Lanka police station in-charge Shivkant Mishra told on phone that 52-year-old Usha Tripathi, resident of Madarwa, Samenghat, died last year after a long illness. Her husband had left the house 2 years ago and did not come home even after his wife’s death, while her two daughters – Pallavi Tripathi and Vaishnavi – did not cremate the body after their mother’s death and kept it locked in their room. .

Both the daughters had hidden their mother’s body inside the quilt. If there were insects in the dead body, they were removed with hands and thrown out. When the foul smell arose, he went to the terrace of the house and ate his food. Both of them lived with the woman’s dead body for about a year. Daughter said- There was no money, that’s why the last rites were not performed

According to the station in-charge, both the daughters told that the mother had died due to illness on December 8, 2022. Mother used to vomit. Due to lack of money and resources, the body could not be cremated. Elder daughter Pallavi is 27 years old. Younger daughter Vaishnavi is 18 years old. Pallavi has a master’s degree, while Vaishnavi is a high school student. The mood of both the daughters is not good. At present, both of them have been given under the protection of their aunt and uncle, residents of Mirzapur. Post mortem of Usha’s skeleton is being conducted on the complaint of uncle Dharmendra.
