New changes in rules related to bank, Aadhar card, SIM card in the new year 2024

The new year 2024 has started. Along with this, there has also been a change in the rules affecting the common man. This includes rules related to SIM card to income tax return. Let us know about them.

Bank locker agreement
An important deadline for individuals having lockers in banks was December 31, 2023. Those who have not signed the revised bank locker agreement till this day, their lockers can be frozen from today i.e. from January 1. Banks will start taking their decisions in this regard from today.

This UPI ID will be closed
NPCI has said in its new guideline that if a UPI user does not make any transaction from his UPI ID for one year, then his UPI ID will be closed. Even if a consumer checks his account balance during the period of one year, his ID will not be blocked.

Filing income tax return
Taxpayers who have so far failed to file their income tax returns for the financial year 2022-23 no longer have the option to file belated returns from today. Additionally, individuals with errors in their returns will also be unable to submit amended returns.

It will be difficult to get a SIM card
With the implementation of the new Telecom Bill, the process of purchasing and maintaining SIM cards is also changing from January 1, 2024. To prevent online fraud, the government is imposing strict rules governing the sale and purchase of SIM cards. Now the digital Know Your Customer process is mandatory to obtain a SIM card. Telecom companies will be required to provide biometric data to customers during the SIM card acquisition process. Possession of a fake SIM card can lead to imprisonment of up to three years and a heavy fine of Rs 50 lakh. Additionally, SIM sellers will now be able to sell SIMs only after complete verification. Bulk distribution of SIM cards will also be banned.

The Insurance Regulatory and Development Authority of India has made it mandatory for all insurance companies to give customer information sheets to policyholders from January 1. The purpose of this document is to explain important information related to insurance in simple words.

Insurance Trinity Project
The Insurance Trinity Project is set to launch in the new year. The project aims to achieve diverse objectives encompassing insurance facilitation, insurance extension and insurance carrier products. There is a plan to simplify the purchase of products or services through Bima Sugam. The aim is to provide affordable insurance protection through insurance expansion. At the same time, the aim is to contribute to the empowerment of women through insurance carriers. The official launch of these products can be done in January or in the months ahead of the new year.

Change in Aadhar Card Details
The last date for change in Aadhar card details was also 31 December 2023. In such a situation, from today onwards, people wishing to change their personal details in Aadhaar card will have to pay an amount of Rs 50.

Nomination in demat account
If you trade in the stock market, you will have to nominate a demat account by June 2024. Earlier this deadline was fixed as 31 December 2023.

Sending a parcel can be expensive
Sending parcels both offline and online may become expensive in the new year 2024. Companies like DHL and Bluedart have indicated that they will increase the price of sending parcels by about 7 percent in the new year.

Car prices will increase

Banks will remain closed for 16 days in January
There are bumper holidays in banks in the month of January and banks will remain closed for 16 days in January 2024. These holidays include weekly Sunday and Saturday holidays apart from Republic Day.
