Uttarakhand: Chauhan called the removal of Chamoli Zip President a tough attack on corruption by Dhami government
BJP has termed the removal of Chamoli District Panchayat President as constitutional and termed it as a strong attack by the Dhami government on corruption. Also said that the culprits of scams in the management of religious pilgrimages like Nanda Rajjat must be punished.
Answering the questions of journalists at the party headquarters, state media in-charge Manveer Singh Chauhan said that it is necessary to take action against those who have supported corruption in the management of Nanda Rajjat Yatra related to God. Earlier investigation had revealed how the then District Panchayat President Rajni Bhandari allotted contracts for the works related to this religious pilgrimage to his favorites who made higher bids against the rules. Also, contrary to the committee’s recommendation, construction was done on the yatra route as per their convenience. After being found guilty in this District Magistrate level investigation, he was removed from the post by the government in January. And the investigation has been done only on the orders of the High Court.
Although Nainital High Court had stayed this order in February, but did not acquit him. Removing this technical objection, on the instructions of the government, the Divisional Commissioner had given the accused Bhandari an opportunity to present the facts in his favor twice in July and August. Even after hearing their side provisionally, serious irregularities have been confirmed in this entire episode. This is the reason that following the Panchayati Raj rules, Chamoli District Panchayat President has been removed on the basis of the investigation report of the Commissioner.
Calling Congress’s allegations baseless and patronizing corruption, Chauhan sarcastically asked why their leaders do such wrong things that they deserve to be removed.
He said that the BJP government under the leadership of Chief Minister Pushkar Dhami is working on the policy of zero tolerance on corruption. Under which any kind of irregularities and scams will not be tolerated and strict action is certain to be taken against the corrupt. One after the other, cases related to corruption come to the fore because Congress is the leader in supporting corruption. Congress workers should question their leaders about their involvement. People had voted for BJP for corruption free Uttarakhand and our government is moving ahead with this resolve.
