Uttarakhand: Relief to thousands of families, Nazul policy will remain in force in the state, read other important decisions of Dhami cabinet

Nazul Policy will remain in force in the state till the 2021 Act is made. The Nazul policy had expired in December; the state cabinet on Thursday approved its re-implementation. With the implementation of the policy, thousands of families occupying Nazul lands in the urban areas of Dehradun, Haridwar, Udham Singh Nagar and Haldwani area of Nainital will get relief. The government had passed the bill to enact the Act and sent it to the Raj Bhavan. Raj Bhavan had sent it for consideration of the Central Government. Until the Act is made, Nazul land can be given free hold under the policy. In the cabinet meeting chaired by CM Pushkar Singh Dhami at the State Secretariat, 15 out of 16 proposals were approved. Chief Secretary Dr. SS Sandhu informed about the decisions.

Civil areas will be out of Cantonment Board
The Cabinet has taken an in-principle decision to exclude non-military civilian areas of the nine cantonment areas of the state, Almora, Ranikhet, Lansdowne, Dehradun, Clementtown, Nainital, Roorkee, Chakrata and Landour. The civilian regional population was facing problems regarding transportation and other facilities in these areas. According to the Chief Secretary, there are still issues related to land and employees of the cantonment areas, for the resolution of which more meetings will be held.

CM has the right to call the assembly session

The Cabinet gave the Chief Minister the right to take decisions on the proposal to convene the Assembly session. State agitators are demanding to call a session regarding the bill regarding horizontal reservation in government jobs.

High Court will shift to Gaulapar, ban on buying and selling of land in surrounding areas

The Cabinet has decided to declare a freeze zone for planned development in the areas around the place where the High Court will shift to Gaulapar (Haldwani). There will be no purchase or sale of land here until the master plan is made. The master plan will be ready in a year. The new High Court will be built on 26.08 hectares of land.

Relief to 5000 traders, three months given to deposit VAT dues

To deposit the outstanding tax of Uttarakhand Value Added Tax Act (VAT), the state government extended the One Time Settlement Scheme for three months. This will provide relief to five thousand traders. Under the scheme, you will get the benefit of exemption in interest and penalty on depositing the outstanding tax.

SPV of Haridwar-Rishikesh Ganga Corridor canceled

The Cabinet has canceled the Special Purpose Vehicle (SPV) of Haridwar-Rishikesh Ganga Corridor. Now this work will be done by Uttarakhand Investment and Infrastructure Development Board (UIIDB). This decision was taken in the board meeting chaired by the CM.

Decision to increase sugarcane price left to ACS

The cabinet did not agree on the proposal to increase sugarcane prices in Uttarakhand. There was a proposal to increase the price of sugarcane by Rs 25 per quintal. Additional Chief Secretary Finance has been entrusted with the responsibility of increasing sugarcane prices.

Other important decisions

  • Recruitment will be done on contract for 25 vacant posts of assistant teachers in government colleges.
  • Greater Doon Development Authority Ltd. formed under MDDA for Smart City end.
  • In Uttarakhand AYUSH Department, only the Additional Director, not the Professor of the Medical College, will become the Director, amendment in the rules.
  • To build Advocate Chamber in Khatima Civil Court premises, land will be available on lease for 30 years, not 90.
  • Guarantee of Rs 409.47 crore approved for payment of sugarcane price of Doiwala, Kichha, Nadehi and Bajpur sugar mills for the crushing season 2023-24.
  • Infine Art Venture Company of Gujarat Vadodara got the work of construction of the place to keep Om idol in Shri Kedarnath Dham.
  • Rules for merging the direct recruitment posts of various service cadres of Badrinath Kedarnath Temple Committee were approved.
  • The State Dam Safety Organization in the Irrigation Department will prepare an annual report of its activities within the last three months of every year, which will be tabled in the Legislative Assembly.
  • The annual financial report of UPCL for the financial years 2019-20, 2020-21, 2021-22 will be tabled in the Assembly.
