Mahua has no right to live in government bungalow’, HC rejects petition

Trinamool Congress (TMC) leader and former MP Mahua Moitra has received a setback from the Delhi High Court. Mahua had challenged the notice to vacate the government bungalow in the court, which has been rejected by the court.

The High Court, while rejecting Mahua’s petition, said that Moitra does not have the right to live in this bungalow because she has been expelled from the membership of Parliament.

Let us tell you that this is the second time that Mahua had approached the Delhi High Court regarding the notice to vacate the government bungalows.

Let us tell you that Mahua was expelled from the membership of Parliament in December 2023. After this he was asked to vacate the government bungalow immediately. The Estate Directorate had issued him an order in this regard.

The Estate Directorate had issued an eviction notice to Mahua to immediately vacate the Type 5 bungalow at 9B Telegraph Lane.  It was said in the notice that if Mahua Moitra did not vacate the bungalow, she would be forced to vacate it.  According to the notice, after losing her Parliament membership, she is no longer eligible for this bungalow.

Earlier, after the allotment of the government bungalow was cancelled, Mahua was asked to vacate the house by January 7.  But, when this bungalow was not vacated, the Estate Directorate issued a notice on January 8 and sought an answer within three days as to why he (Mahua) did not vacate his government residence.  After that, on January 12, a third notice was also issued to Mahua.  This bungalow was allotted to Mahua as an MP.  But, after the departure of the MP on December 8, 2023, its allotment was also cancelled.
