Uttarakhand: Chief Secretary Dr. S.S. Sandhu took a meeting with officials regarding drone policy

Chief Secretary Dr. S.S. Sandhu held a meeting with officials at the Secretariat on Tuesday regarding the drone policy of the state. The Chief Secretary said that there is a need to adopt innovative approach in the drone sector. For this, contracts should be signed to seek cooperation from technological institutions of the country.

The Chief Secretary said that Uttarakhand is the most helicopter friendly state. On the one hand, this has immense benefits for the Heli service, on the other hand, considering the possibility of accidents, the area is highly restricted for drones. He said that the focus should be on zero risk area for the drone corridor. Said that keeping in mind the many high tension and low tension lines of Pitkul and UPCL, mutual coordination should be established between UPCL and Pitkul.

The Chief Secretary said that the drone policy should be publicized to promote investment in the field of drones. Besides, there is a need to work towards training and employment of the youth of the state in the field of drones. Said that various types of courses on drones can be offered from government and private universities of the state.

Secretary R Meenakshi Sundaram, Shailesh Bagoli, Director ITDA Vineet Kumar and IG (Security) Rajeev Swaroop and other senior officers were present on the occasion.
