Uttarakhand: Operators stopped operating taxis here in Champawat, passengers worried

Taxi operators in Champawat district are angry over handing over the fitness of taxis to private hands. Angry taxi operators have stopped operating taxis. Due to which passengers are facing problems. Taxi operators have warned of going on an indefinite strike if their demands are not met.

The government has removed the fitness of taxis from RTO and given it to the private sector. Due to which there is a lot of anger among the taxi operators against the government. On Saturday, the taxi operators of Lohaghat raised slogans against the government and demanded that the fitness of the vehicles not be handed over to private hands by stopping the operation of taxis.
Taxi operators are being harassed
Taxi operators say that till the time the fitness of the taxis was done in the RTO, they had to pay fitness charge of only Rs 864. But now after going to private sector, one has to pay 10 to 15 thousand rupees for fitness, which is a grave injustice to the taxi operators.
Where will the poor taxi operators get so much money from? He said that luggage carriers have also been removed from the roof of the vehicles due to which passengers now have to keep their luggage inside the taxis. Taxi operators say that they are being harassed everywhere.
Gave warning of indefinite strike
Taxi operators say that their challans are being made online at various places. He warned that if the government does not withdraw the fitness from the private sector, then all the taxi operators will go on indefinite strike. Due to the strike of taxi operators, taxis from Lohaghat to Haldwani, Pithoragarh, Tanakpur and Nainital could not operate on Saturday. Due to which passengers are facing a lot of problems.
