UP Budget 2024 focuses on problems of roads, bridges, drinking water in Purvanchal-Bundelkhand, Rs 212 crore for bridge construction

The state government has made a provision of Rs 1320.74 crore under the Special Component Plan for Scheduled Castes of the Social Welfare Department to overcome the problems of roads, bridges and drinking water in Purvanchal and Bundelkhand. With this amount, infrastructure facilities will be developed, which will lead to progress in both the areas of the state and create employment opportunities.
Under the new schemes in the budget, a provision of Rs 360 crore has been made for the rural pipe drinking water schemes of Jaljeevan Mission. Rs 125 crore has been given for special schemes of Purvanchal region, while Rs 75 crore has been given for special schemes of Bundelkhand. At the same time, Rs 201.50 crore has been given for new works of construction of bridges on different categories of routes of NABARD funded state. Similarly, a lump sum provision of Rs 188.43 crore has been made for new works on major and other district roads of the state. Rs 153.44 crore has been given for widening and strengthening of state highways.
