Uttarakhand: Now the state will soon get the right to cut trees on its land, 15 species protected

The people of the state will be allowed to cut trees on their agricultural and non-agricultural lands. They will not have to take permission from the Forest Department to cut trees except 15 banned species, but fruit trees like mango, walnut and litchi will remain included in the banned species.
This proposal sent from the Forest Headquarters has been approved by the Justice Department. Orders in this regard will be issued soon after legislative approval. Principal Secretary (Forest) RK Sudhanshu has confirmed this. The state government had decided to amend the Uttar Pradesh Tree Protection Act 1976 (Adaptation and Modification Order, 2002) and Uttar Pradesh Private Act, 1948 (Adaptation and Modification Order, 2002) in the state. Forest Headquarters prepared a proposal to amend both the Acts and sent it to the government. These will be implemented after justice and legislative process at the government level.
People of the state will get great relief
71.05 percent area of the state is forest area. Under the Forest Conservation Act and Tree Preservation Act, people have to take permission from the forest department to cut trees on their land. They have to go through a long process to get permission. They will get great relief from this decision of the government. They will be able to cut non-protected trees on their agricultural and non-agricultural land as per their need.
