On March 30, Prime Minister Narendra Modi will seek votes for the party’s candidate Arun Govil from Meerut Lok Sabha seat. PM Modi will hold an election rally for BJP in Meerut Lok Sabha seat. RLD Chief Jayant Chaudhary will also share the stage with PM Narendra Modi in this rally.
BJP won five out of seven Lok Sabha elections
If we look at Meerut Lok Sabha seat, out of the last seven Lok Sabha elections, BJP has won five. BJP’s Rajendra Aggarwal had won the Lok Sabha elections held here in 2009, 2014 and 2019. Earlier, he had won this seat in the Lok Sabha elections held in 1996 and 1998. In 1999 and 2004, Congress’s Avtar Bhadana and BSP’s Mohammad Shahid had won here respectively.
Results of last two Lok Sabha elections
In 2014, BJP’s Rajendra Aggarwal had won the Meerut Lok Sabha seat by more than two lakh votes. In this election, he got 5,32,981 votes while BSP’s Mohammad Shahid Akhlaq got 3,00,655 and Shahid Manzoor got 2,11,759 votes. In this election, Congress had made Nagma its candidate, she got only 42,911 votes. In this election, BJP’s Rajendra Aggarwal had a clear advantage of distribution of Muslim votes.
There was a tough competition in the year 2019
There was a very exciting contest on Meerut seat in the 2019 Lok Sabha elections. There was an alliance of SP-BSP and RLD in this election. This seat came to BSP. BSP had fielded Haji Mohammad Yakub on this seat. Haji Mohammad Yakub got 5,81,455 votes while BJP’s Rajendra Aggarwal won the election by getting 5,86,184 votes. Congress candidate Rajendra Aggarwal got 34,479 votes in this election.
