‘I have no words to express my sorrow’, WHO Chief said this on Israeli attack on Gaza hospital

There is news of Israeli army carrying out an airstrike on a hospital in Gaza. Four people have died in this attack. Amidst the Israeli attack, World Health Organization Director General Tedros Gabres expressed grief over the situation after the attack on Gaza’s Al-Shifa Hospital on March 18. He wrote that ever since the attack on the hospital, the situation there has become very bad. WHO Chief wrote in a post shared on social media that he has no words to express his grief.

WHO Chief wrote in a post shared on social media that 107 patients are staying in the hospital premises, who are facing severe shortage of essential items. There is a severe shortage of health aid, medical care and supplies. Of the hospital patients, four children and 28 others are in critical condition and people are facing shortage of basic items like diapers, urine bags and even water.

The WHO Chief claimed that yesterday only one bottle of water was available for every 15 patients in the hospital. Food is also very limited and this can prove fatal for patients like diabetes. Tedros appealed to Israel for immediate ceasefire. He wrote, ‘We reiterate that every moment is precious for the ceasefire.’ In another post, the WHO Chief said that ‘he has no words to express this entire sorrow.’

Israel claims – attacked the base of Islamic Jihad
This statement of the head of the World Health Organization has come at a time when the Israeli Army recently carried out an air attack on Al Aqsa Hospital in Gaza. The Israeli Army has claimed that its air strike targeted the hideout of Islamic Jihad and in this attack four terrorists of the Islamic Jihad terrorist organization have been killed. However, the hospital administration has denied the allegations that the hospital premises were being used for terrorist activities. Islamic Jihad is an ally of Hamas and till now no statement has been issued by Islamic Jihad regarding the Israeli air attack. It is noteworthy that Al Aqsa Hospital is the last hospital operating in Gaza.
