Uttar Pradesh: Offer to Robert Vadra from BJP? Brajesh Pathak said- ‘We need it from their side…’
Amethi seat is in the headlines these days in the UP Lok Sabha elections. Congress has not yet declared its candidate from this seat. Meanwhile, Sonia Gandhi’s son-in-law and Priyanka Gandhi’s husband Robert Vadra has claimed in an interview that the people of Amethi want him to contest elections from this seat. On which the reaction of Deputy CM Brajesh Pathak has come to the fore.
Deputy CM Brajesh Pathak said on Robert Vadra’s statement, “We have not yet received any application from Robert Vadra. If he has applied for the Congress Party, then let his mother-in-law, his brother-in-law know… Bharatiya Janata Party too.” No applications have been received.”
Robert Vadra expressed his desire to contest elections
In UP, Samajwadi Party and Congress are contesting elections in alliance. Congress has won 17 seats including Amethi-Rae Bareli. But Congress has not been able to declare its candidates in Amethi and Rae Bareli till now. Meanwhile, while talking to news agency ANI, Robert Vadra has expressed his desire to contest elections from Amethi seat.
Robert Vadra said in the interview, the people of Amethi have understood their mistake. I think now they want someone from the Gandhi family to contest the elections. Even the people of Amethi have requested me that if I join politics then I should choose Amethi. I had gone to Amethi with Priyanka for the election campaign for the first time in 1999.
Amethi Lok Sabha seat has been the stronghold of Congress and Gandhi family. Rahul Gandhi has been an MP from here, but in the 2019 elections, he had to face defeat at the hands of BJP’s Smriti Irani. However, he won from Wayanad seat with a record number of votes. Congress workers want Rahul Gandhi to once again contest elections from Amethi, but till now no such indication has been received from the Congress.
On the other hand, BJP has once again given ticket to Smriti Irani from Amethi. If Congress approves the name of Robert Vadra, then once again an interesting contest can be seen here and a contest can be seen between Smriti Irani and Robert Vadra on Amethi seat.
