Petition filed against PM Modi, demand for 6 years ban

A petition has been filed in the Delhi High Court demanding action against Prime Minister Narendra Modi for seeking votes in the name of Sikh and Hindu deities and places of worship. The petition has been filed by lawyer Anand S Jondhale.
The petition has sought directions to the Election Commission to disqualify Prime Minister Modi from elections for six years under the Representation of the People Act. Also, an order has been asked to stop asking for votes in the name of religious deities and places of worship. The petitioner has cited PM Modi’s speech given in Pilibhit, Uttar Pradesh on April 9. Jondhale said that during the speech, PM Modi appealed to the voters to vote for the BJP in the name of Hindu deities and Hindu places of worship as well as Sikh deities and Sikh places of worship.
He alleged that Modi said that he has built the Ram temple. It was also said that he developed the Kartarpur Sahib corridor and removed GST from the material used in the langars served in the gurdwaras. He had brought back copies of the Guru Granth Sahib from Afghanistan. Jondhale argues that the Prime Minister not only sought votes in the name of Hindu and Sikh deities and their places of worship, but also made comments against the opposition political parties, calling them biased towards Muslims.
