The weather in Delhi is set to change once again, causing problems for the residents who had to endure the scorching heat on Thursday. In a span of just 24 hours, Delhi’s temperature witnessed a significant rise of four degrees. Also, the India Meteorological Department (IMD) has predicted rain with strong winds on Friday in view of the impact of western disturbance.
The Meteorological Department has issued a yellow alert for rain and strong winds for Friday. While parts of Delhi witnessed sporadic drizzle and strong winds on Wednesday night, continuous sunshine since Thursday morning created trouble for residents. The maximum temperature in Delhi increased from 35.1 degrees on Wednesday to 39.2 degrees on Thursday.
Temperature remained above 40 degrees in many parts
Apart from this, the temperature in Najafgarh, Pitampura, Pusa and Sports Complex also remained above 40 degrees Celsius. The minimum temperature was recorded at 20.9 degrees Celsius, which is one degree below normal. The Meteorological Department estimates that there will be rain with strong winds in Delhi on Friday, which will reduce the temperature by two to three degrees. Wind speed can reach 20 to 30 kilometers per hour. Also, there may be light drizzle on Monday.
Advice for schools amid rising temperatures
An official of the Meteorological Department said, ‘The impact of western disturbance will be felt in Delhi-NCR. It is expected that strong winds will either blow in the early hours or continue throughout Friday. Apart from this, there is also a possibility of light rain in the capital, which will provide some relief from the heat. No rain is expected over the weekend, but strong winds may occur. IMD estimates that the sky will remain cloudy. The temperature during this period is expected to remain between 36 to 37 degrees Celsius. It is advisable for educational institutions to avoid scheduling afternoon sessions.”
