Uttarakhand: 15 lakh voters of Dehradun are ready, polling parties took the lead

15.56 lakh voters of Doon are ready to write the fate of the candidates for the Lok Sabha elections. The machinery of the Election Commission has also completed its preparations to make the biggest festival of democracy a success.

1880 polling parties have taken charge at their respective polling places. Voting will begin at 07 am on Friday and will conclude by 05 pm. At those booths where voters are standing in queue even till 5 o’clock, the process will be completed after everyone has voted.

One Sakhi booth ready in each assembly

There was a bustling atmosphere since morning at Maharana Pratap Sports College in Raipur, the departure point of polling parties on Thursday. 122 polling parties from remote and inaccessible areas of Chakrata had been sent for voting on Wednesday itself, while the remaining 1758 parties were sent on Thursday. By late evening, all the parties had set up positions at their respective polling places.

One Sakhi booth has been prepared in each assembly, the entire responsibility of which has been given to women personnel. For this, 10 women polling parties were also sent on time with their equipment. District Election Officer/DM Sonika also reached the Sports College and inspected it. Inquired about their condition from the polling parties and wished them good luck on their way to the polling place.

Health check up of employees

Health check-up of employees going to polling parties was conducted at Maharana Pratap Sports College. Those employees who had any problem related to sugar, BP and breathing, they reached there and showed it to the health workers present and took advice. Health workers gave medicines to the employees, so that the polling party employees do not face any problem while on duty. After this the polling party employees left for their duty.

First rest then work, material checked

As the departure time was late, the employees who came from outside took rest at different places of the Sports College. Many employees lay down on the cricket ground and straightened their legs. At the same time, after receiving the voting material, the employees checked all the necessary materials and inspected the EVM. After this he left for the polling place.

DM talked to polling parties, asked for food

District Election Officer/District Magistrate Sonika spoke to the polling parties before departure. He encouraged the personnel and said that no one should be sent without providing food. During this, the election personnel were also taught the last lesson of well-organized voting and were told how to report during and after voting and how to return EVMs on time.
