Lack of rain becomes a crisis in the hilly districts of Uttarakhand! Meteorological Department data further increased concern

In Uttarakhand, the heat of April and June was felt. Now the beginning of the month of May is also making people sweat. Obviously the summer season has arrived. In such a situation, it is natural to feel hot, but the concern is about some changed attitude of the weather. The situation is that the hilly districts are yearning for rain. On the other hand, plain districts like Dehradun and Udham Singh Nagar are seen in a different direction in terms of rainfall. The data of the Meteorological Department itself is telling about these changed conditions.
Very less rainfall in hilly districts
If we analyze the records of rainfall in 13 districts of Uttarakhand during the months of March and April, it is found that the availability of rain in most of the plain districts appears to be normal to minus. This means that the amount of rainfall in the hilly districts is less than normal. In Pithoragarh district, rainfall has reduced by 53 percent in these two months. Nainital district appears at second number.
Where within 2 months, 37 percent rainfall has been recorded less than normal. Similarly, Rudraprayag district in Garhwal is also suffering from 32 percent less rainfall. There has been 28 percent less rainfall in Champawat district. Almora has also received 22 percent less rainfall. Apart from this, a slight decrease has also been recorded in Uttarkashi, Chamoli and Bageshwar.
Talking about the districts in the plains of Uttarakhand, on the contrary in Udham Singh Nagar, 56 percent more rainfall than normal has been recorded in the last two months. Whereas, normal rainfall has also been recorded in Dehradun. That means the rainfall situation is normal in two out of the three plain districts of the state. However, Haridwar district seems to be an exception in this matter. Because, the rainfall here has been recorded 26 percent less.
Most of the hilly districts of Kumaon division are suffering from lack of rain
Kumaon region in Uttarakhand seems to be more affected due to rain. Most of the hilly districts of Kumaon division are suffering from lack of rain. Meteorological Department scientist Rohit Thapliyal says that overall in the last two months the rainfall has been recorded 22 percent less. This situation is when there was more rain in the month of March i.e. the month of April was empty in terms of rain.
Forest fires in the hilly districts of Uttarakhand remain a matter of great concern. The problem of the forest department is also that the weather is not supporting the department in terms of forest fire. Due to lack of rain, moisture is not available in the hilly districts. Due to which the chances of fire incidents in the forests have increased.
However, the Forest Department is claiming to be making various efforts to deal with these situations. According to Forest Minister Subodh Uniyal, the department is making every possible effort to prevent forest fires. Efforts are also being made to increase people’s participation. The big thing is that the lack of rain is being recorded more in the Kumaon division region. In this context, major incidents of fire have also been recorded in Kumaon division only.
