The newly constructed Solid Waste Management Plant at Jankichatti is proving to be very useful for the safe disposal of solid waste of Yamunotri Dham and its last stops. This plant, equipped with modern plasma technology, has started functioning regularly with the commencement of the Yatra.

Uttarkashi District Magistrate Dr. Meharban Singh Bisht said that during his visit to Jankichatti area before the beginning of the Yatra period, he paid special attention to the well-organized operation of the Solid Waste Management Plant and the regular disposal of solid waste from the area. Instructions given for proper use of the plant
The District Magistrate handed over the responsibility of cleaning Yamunotri Dham and its walkways to the District Panchayat and other areas including Sulabh International and Jankichatti and gave instructions to ensure proper utilization of this plant for proper management and safe disposal of garbage.

The District Magistrate said that the construction of this plant using modern technology will go a long way in solving the problem of waste management in the area. As soon as the Yatra period started, this plant has started working regularly and garbage is being safely disposed of on daily basis.
