Mamata Banerjee announces, TMC will go to Supreme Court against High Court’s decision canceling OBC certificates

The Kolkata High Court had recently canceled all OBC certificates issued in the state since 2010. Angered by this decision, West Bengal CM Mamata announced that now her government will challenge the High Court order and will go to the Supreme Court.

TMC will knock the doors of higher court
Mamata Banerjee was addressing an election rally in Sagar in South Pargana district, during which she said that the government will approach the higher court after the summer holidays. He said, we do not accept the order of cancellation of OBC certificates.

Nearly five lakh OBC certificates invalid
Let us tell you that the Kolkata High Court on Wednesday had canceled the OBC status given to many sections of West Bengal since 2010. This sparked a political debate in the midst of the Lok Sabha elections. The court had said that including 77 sections of Muslims in the list of backward classes is treating them like a vote bank. The court had clearly said that from the day of this decision the canceled certificates cannot be used in any employment process. Due to this, about five lakh OBC certificates will become invalid. However, it was also said that the decision will not affect the candidates who have already got a chance through these certificates.
