Uttarakhand: In view of the rising temperature, Chief Minister Pushkar Singh Dhami directed the Health Secretary to make proper arrangements in the hospitals and keep stock of essential medicines

Uttarakhand, which is always cold, is now also in the grip of heat. The temperature is continuously increasing in the plain districts of the state. From the plain districts to the hilly districts of the state, the temperature is above normal. Chief Minister Pushkar Singh Dhami has given necessary instructions to Health Secretary Dr. R Rajesh Kumar regarding the preparations of the Health Department. Health Secretary Dr. R Rajesh Kumar said that the increase in heat also affects health. The Meteorological Department says that severe heat wave conditions have been observed in the state. Due to which hot winds can blow from the plains to the mountains. Therefore, a new health advisory has been issued by the Health Department. In view of which the Health Department has issued an alert in all the hospitals of the state. In the advisory, it has been advised not to go out in the sun without any important work between 12 noon to 4 pm. The Health Secretary said that there are more chances of falling prey to diseases due to heat. In view of this, instructions were issued to make arrangements by issuing alerts in all the government hospitals of the state.

Health Secretary Dr. R. Rajesh Kumar said that due to rising temperature, there is a lack of water in the body. Due to which the body becomes dehydrated. He said that in the summer season, children and the elderly should be allowed to go out of the house as little as possible, so that children can be saved from the heat wave and they fall ill less. He said that to avoid heat, consume as much liquid as possible, so that there is no shortage of water in the body. By not having a shortage of water, children can also be saved from the heat.

What to do to protect from heatwave (Garmi/Loo)

Health Secretary Dr. R. Rajesh Kumar said that before leaving the house, definitely check the temperature once and if it is very important, then carry things to protect from the sun with you, such as glasses, umbrella, sunscreen, cloth to tie on the mouth, water bottle and small things to eat. Keep drinking liquids (cold water, lemonade, sherbet, coconut water etc.) at regular intervals. Arrange curtains etc. to prevent direct sunlight at home, workplace etc. Keep animals in shady places. Take special care of children, sick and elderly. Contact the nearest government medical unit if symptoms of heat stroke/loo appear.

What not to do in heatwave

Health Secretary Dr. R. Rajesh Kumar said that the Health Department has appealed to people not to go out of the house without any work. Do not go out in the sun without any important work during extreme heat (12 noon to 4 pm). Avoid going out in the sun with bare feet/body. Avoid eating food rich in protein and stale food. Do not leave children and pets alone in vehicles parked in the sun. Avoid wearing dark and bright colored clothes in summer. Along with this, do not use tight and short clothes at all, especially when you have to go out in the sun. Do not cook food in a closed and extremely hot place. Do not consume alcohol, tea, coffee, carbohydrates, soft drinks etc. in excess in summer. Avoid doing manual work in excessive heat/sunlight.

Alert issued in all government hospitals of the state

Health Secretary Dr. R. Rajesh Kumar said that keeping in view the summer season and the danger of heat wave, instructions were already given to all the districts to remain alert. All hospitals were asked to ensure adequate arrangements of ORS, eye fluids etc. All health workers, medical and paramedical staff have been trained. Instructions were given to keep proper arrangements of drinking water in all hospitals and to keep continuous supply of electricity in the hospital. If any death is registered due to heat stroke, its death audit will be done, so that the real cause of death can be found out. Publicity is being spread through social media, print media, hoarding banners to make people aware about the prevention of heat stroke.
