The local people immediately informed the Kotwali police about the incident. On receiving the information, the police team immediately reached the spot.
Police engaged in identification efforts
The police reached the spot and after a lot of hard work took out the body from the irrigation canal. The deceased has not been identified yet. At present, the police is trying to identify the deceased. The police has taken the body of the deceased into custody and kept it in the mortuary.
Investigation of the case continues
Giving information about the case, Kotwali SSI Yunus Khan said that this morning the police had received information about a dead body being found near Karanpur in the irrigation canal. Efforts are being made to identify the body. At present, the body has been kept in the mortuary for 72 hours. If the body is not identified, further action will be taken only after that. The matter is being investigated.
