Due to adverse geographical conditions, disaster-like conditions always prevail in Uttarakhand. But the situation gets worse during the monsoon season. Every year monsoon rains wreak havoc in Uttarakhand. Monsoon is going to knock in Uttarakhand soon. This year (2024) more than normal rainfall is being predicted in Uttarakhand during the monsoon.

Last year rain caused havoc

Monsoon brings devastation with it every year in Uttarakhand. Due to monsoon rains, there is often a lot of loss of life and property in Uttarakhand. Sometimes the situation becomes such that the road gets washed away in the flood and the villages are cut off from the district headquarters. In such a situation, it becomes difficult to rescue in the disaster-affected areas.

If we talk about last year, then last year also the disaster caused huge devastation in the state. Last year, more than 150 people lost their lives in the monsoon season, while the state also suffered a loss of about Rs 1400 crore. Major disasters like Joshimath Haridwar had left the sting of disaster in the minds of the people. Last year, 96 people died due to natural calamity, while 16 people went missing and 73 people died in road accidents.

The government is preparing a plan

To prevent this from happening like last time, the government is preparing a precise plan in collaboration with the disaster department. The Chief Minister of the state, Pushkar Singh Dhami, is constantly holding review meetings of the Disaster Management Department regarding the monsoon season. Chief Minister Pushkar Singh Dhami has instructed the disaster management officials to remain on alert mode during the monsoon season. The Chief Minister said that any kind of negligence will not be tolerated.

Dealing with disaster is a big challenge for the government

The way the possibility of rain is being expressed more in Uttarakhand this time, in such a situation, the government will have a big challenge to deal with the disaster. But the government is making all claims to deal with this challenge. State Minister Jyoti Prasad Gairola in the BJP government said that in view of the monsoon season, the BJP government is constantly in active mode. Chief Minister Pushkar Singh Dhami is holding review meetings on time. And this time the government is fully prepared for the monsoon season.

Congress raises questions on preparations

Congress has started raising questions on the government’s preparations for the monsoon season. Congress’s chief spokesperson Garima Mehra Dasauni says that roads are dug up at many places. Roads are dug up at more than 40 places due to which there is a traffic jam. In the coming time, the same will become a deadlock.

Garima Dasauni says that every time the monsoon season comes, the situation goes out of control. Lack of drainage of water, lack of maintenance of drains are other such things which make it seem that the administration and the government are inviting disaster in the monsoon season.
