Disaster-like situation prevails in Uttarakhand Disaster Department, many officers and employees resign one after the other

Disaster-like conditions are visible in Uttarakhand Disaster Department. While monsoon season is a challenging time for disaster in Uttarakhand, resignations of many officers in the disaster department have created trouble for the department. In the last five years, about 38 employees have resigned from service in Uttarakhand State Disaster Management Authority. Seven experienced personnel of GIS Lab working for 10 years have been excluded from service. Apart from this, three employees on deputation have also applied to leave the service.

Disaster-like conditions in Uttarakhand Disaster Department

Two employees of Uttarakhand Disaster Department, Piyush Rautla and Rahul Jugran, with 16 years of experience, have recently resigned. Four employees who came on deputation in the last eight months have left USDMA in half of their service. Seven GIS Lab personnel with 10 years of work experience in the Disaster Management Department have been excluded from service. The High Court has banned the filling of their posts.

After a personnel on deputation was given a red entry by USDMA, he too has resigned from the service and has now filed a case against USDMA in the High Court. A personnel appointed on the post of GIS Expert has left the service within 1 year.

12 out of 29 master trainers left the service in 5 years

Let us tell you that in the last 5 years, 12 out of 29 master trainers have left the service. 12 employees appointed in USDMA in July 2019 have left the service. Four disaster management officers have resigned from their service. Two employees appointed in the 112 service of the Disaster Management Department have left the service. Along with this, three employees who came on deputation have applied to leave the service in half the service. While about 12 cases related to the appointment of employees and their service are currently going on in the Honorable High Court against USDMA.

Some officers have been accused of corruption

The disaster department has been identified as a corrupt department in Uttarakhand. Recently, some of the officers who have resigned have been accused of corruption and when they were called by the department to present their side, they thought it better to resign instead of presenting their side. Ranjit Sinha, who is still handling the responsibility of Disaster Secretary, says that the Finance Department will decide on the recovery of the ongoing case of corruption.

Demand for high-level investigation in the department

Regarding the resignation in the Disaster Department, Chief Minister Pushkar Singh Dhami says that he is not aware of it yet but he will take cognizance of it. BJP leader Ravindra Jugran says that there has been a corruption scam of several hundred crores in the Disaster Department. He has complained about it at many levels. Now he is going to put all the facts before Chief Minister Pushkar Singh Dhami and is demanding a high-level investigation in the department so that action can be taken against those who have committed corruption.
