Uttarakhand: Leopard terror in Champawat, kills 12 goats, villagers terrified

Leopard terror is being seen in Barakot of Champawat. Last night, the leopard devoured 12 goats of Trilok Singh son of Mansingh of Raighaav village. Due to which the victim family has suffered huge financial loss. After the incident, there is an atmosphere of panic among the villagers as well.

Amid heavy rains, wildlife is also coming near the population. Last Sunday, a leopard devoured 12 goats of Trilok Singh in Raighaav village of Barakot. Due to which the victim has suffered huge loss. Giving information, the youth of the village, Hayad Singh said that the leopard entered the enclosure of Trilok Singh and devoured his 12 goats.

Leopard ran away into the forest

When the villagers reached the goat enclosure after hearing the noise of the goats, the leopard was still there. The villagers locked the leopard in the enclosure. But seeing the opportunity, the leopard escaped through the skylight and ran towards the forest. Hayad Singh said that on Saturday night too, the leopard had devoured six goats of Padam Singh. He said that the area has been terrorized by leopards for a long time.

Villagers demanded compensation for the affected farmers

Gram Pradhan Neha Adhikari said that several times the forest department has been requested to catch the leopard by placing a cage. But the forest department is not paying attention to this. The villagers have demanded the forest department to take cognizance of the matter and provide compensation to the affected farmers and place a cage in the area.

An atmosphere of fear in the area

The incident has created an atmosphere of fear in the entire area. The villagers say that due to the negligence of the department in this way, there can be loss of life in the area. It is worth noting that for the last one week, there has been torrential rain in the area due to which wild animals also come near the population and become violent when they do not find prey. Due to which there is also a danger of the leopard becoming a man-eater.
