Uttarakhand: Finance expenditure committee approves family identity card project, certificates can be issued immediately

On the lines of Haryana and Karnataka state, the Uttarakhand government is working on the project of Parivar Pehchan Patra. Taking a step in this direction, the Finance Expenditure Committee (EFC) has approved a budget of 20 crores for this project. In the meeting of Finance Expenditure Committee (EFC) chaired by Chief Secretary Radha Raturi on Thursday, the Planning Department has been given a timeline of one month for the selection of the vendor of the project.

He said that with this unique ID, caste and other certificates will be issued immediately. With the help of the identity card, through in-depth analysis and verification, people taking wrong advantage of various services and benefits can be identified and eliminated. This will reduce the workload of many government offices in the state.

ID will be part of the database

The Chief Secretary said that the family identity card will work as a proof of residential address. This will bring complete transparency in the functioning of the government and will help in improving the level of better governance in the state. All eligible and often neglected residents (such as Divyang, etc.) will be part of the Unique ID database. They will be provided appropriate assistance by the state government under targeted services and benefits according to their needs.

Through this, not only will various databases be integrated under the Unique ID project. It is proposed to include all documents and papers related to all family members. Secretary R Meenakshi Sundaram, Additional Secretary Vijay Kumar Jogdande and other officials of the Planning Department were present in the meeting.

Comprehensive family data will be prepared

The Chief Secretary said that the purpose of the family identity card is to prepare verified, authentic and reliable data of families with a unique identity for each family. It will be linked to existing central and state government services and benefits.

Documentation and certification will be reduced

The need for documentation and certification will be reduced through the family identity card. Through unique identification, access can be made to the proposed system or interlinked department systems. This will enable information about residents for services and benefits related to various departments.

Government rules will be strictly implemented

With the help of Unique ID, the rules of the Uttarakhand government will be strictly implemented. Through computerization of various services and works, citizens will also be able to get a comprehensive list of benefits and subsidies given by the state and central government.
