State level vigilance and monitoring committee meeting held after 14 years in Uttarakhand, instructions to settle pending cases

The State Level Vigilance and Monitoring Committee constituted under the Scheduled Tribes (Prevention of Atrocities) Act, 1989 met after about 14 years. This meeting was held at the Chief Minister’s residence under the chairmanship of CM Dhami. Meanwhile, the CM directed the officials to hold this meeting every 6 months and in the upcoming State Level Vigilance and Monitoring Committee meetings, the chairpersons of the SC and ST Commission should also be called as special members.

CM said that pending cases should be resolved within the stipulated time

In the meeting, the CM directed to dispose of the pending cases under the SC and ST (Prevention of Atrocities) Act within the stipulated time and to continuously advocate for it in the courts. Along with this, on receiving complaints related to this, immediate FIR action and speedy investigation by the police were also directed. Apart from this, he asked to dispose of the long pending cases on mission mode and give the permissible assistance amount to the victims as soon as possible.

Instructions to make integrated system

The CM instructed the concerned officials to make such a system that on completion of 60 years of age, the system of applying old age pension to the beneficiaries becomes easy, so that they do not have to face any kind of problems. For this, the best practices of other states should also be studied. Apart from this, instructions were given in the meeting that an integrated system should be made so that the beneficiaries get the benefits of all the schemes of SC and ST category on a single platform.

Prevention of Atrocities Act will be promoted

CM Dhami said that the Social Welfare Department and Home Department should promote the SC and ST (Prevention of Atrocities) Act so that the public is aware of it. He said that the problems of SC and ST people should also be resolved seriously.

The Atrocities Prevention Act will be promoted with wall painting

Finance Minister Premchand Agarwal said that people should have complete information about the Scheduled Castes and Scheduled Tribes (Prevention of Atrocities) Act and departmental schemes, for this, publicity should be done through multipurpose welfare camps organized at the district level and through wall painting as well as flex in the development block offices. At the same time, Cabinet Minister Rekha Arya said that senior or PCS officers should also be appointed to speed up the work of Scheduled Castes and Scheduled Tribes Commissions. Also, work should be done speedily to fill the vacant posts.
