Now 84 people have died due to lightning in UP, now Yogi government will do this for their rescue

The number of deaths due to lightning during monsoon in Uttar Pradesh is not stopping. At the same time, efforts are being made to reduce the number of these deaths. In this sequence, the state government has planned to soon establish a lightning detection and warning system. According to state government officials, this system called “Uttar Pradesh Lightning Alert Management System” will be established in three phases across the state.
84 people died this month
According to the data of the Relief Department, 84 people have died due to lightning in the state so far this month, out of which 43 people died between 6:30 pm on July 10 and 6:30 pm on July 11. This number of deaths is much higher than the deaths caused by lightning in last year’s monsoon. According to the Indian Meteorological Department, 41 people died due to lightning last year. According to another report of the Indian Meteorological Department, Uttar Pradesh is one of the states where the highest number of deaths have occurred due to lightning.
Work is going on to install new technology
Dr Manish Ranalkar, Director, Meteorological Department, Lucknow said, “In view of the deaths caused by lightning in Uttar Pradesh, we are working on installing a lightning detection system.” He said, “After the instructions given by the Chief Minister to the State Disaster Management Authority, it has been decided to install this system based on ‘Time of Arrival (TOA)’ technology.” The Indian Meteorological Department is currently dependent on radar based system and satellite data which warns about the possibility of lightning in an area and it is not considered as a ‘real time’ warning.
Warning will be given 30 minutes in advance
Ranaalkar said, “The TOA based system can detect and warn about lightning in a particular area at least 30 minutes in advance. The estimated cost of setting up this system will be around Rs 300 crore.” He said, “In the first phase, this system is likely to be installed and started by the end of this year.” Relief Commissioner of Uttar Pradesh Naveen Kumar told the media on Friday that in the first phase, this system will be implemented in 37 districts of the state. According to him, after this, it is likely to be implemented in 20 districts in the second phase and in 18 districts in the third phase.
