Pashtuns revolt against the army in Pakistan, 7 protesters killed in firing by security forces

Now the Pashtuns have revolted against the army in Pakistan. On Friday, thousands of Pashtuns demonstrated against the Pakistani army on the Afghan border. During this, people opposed the military operation of the Pak army. During this, the police opened fire on peaceful protesters, in which at least seven protesters were killed, while many others were injured. It is being told that the Pashtun population of Pakistan is upset with the violent activities of the Pakistani army on the Afghan border in the name of terrorism. The army is harassing the common people in the name of terrorism and arrests and tortures anyone whenever it wants.

10000 people took out a rally in Bannu

More than 10,000 people had gathered for the rally in Bannu, 40 kilometers (25 miles) from Afghanistan, waving white flags and calling for peace. In the same area on Monday, a suicide bomber drove a vehicle filled with explosives into an army cordon, killing eight Pakistani soldiers. “Military operations have been going on for 20 years, yet peace has not been established. Military operations can never be a substitute for peace,” said protester Jamaluddin Wazir. Pakistan’s government announced earlier this year, without giving details, that the army would launch a new campaign to combat violence in areas along the border with Afghanistan, which has escalated since the Taliban government returned to power.

Army fires at protesters

Witnesses and officials said Friday’s protest turned violent when the crowd reached the walls of an army base and opened fire. “They raised slogans against the army and some people started throwing stones at the wall of the military base. This led to the army firing in the air, causing a stampede,” an intelligence official in a city near Peshawar said on condition of anonymity.

Provincial health minister also joined the protest

At least one protester was killed, according to provincial Public Health Minister Pakhtun Yar, who was a speaker at the protest. He accused the army of firing on the protesters. “During the rally, bullets were fired directly at me and people standing near me. It was not just firing in the air – it was aimed at killing us,” Yar said. “The firing was done by those who want to destroy our peace. They want to spill the blood of our people, but the community is not willing to tolerate it anymore,” he said.

Pakistan Army operation against TTP

For many years, the Tehreek-e-Taliban Pakistan, also known as the Pakistan Taliban, waged a bloody campaign in the region, killing thousands of civilians and taking control of parts of the border region before the Pakistani army pushed them back in a military operation that began in 2014. The clearance operation displaced hundreds of thousands of people and destroyed countless homes and businesses, sparking outrage among locals demanding protection of the rights of ethnic Pashtuns.
