Pakistan’s new bet against BCCI in the Peasants Trophy, PCB pleaded before ICC
Despite hosting the Champions Trophy, Pakistan has lost its sleep these days due to BCCI. This issue was ignored in the annual meeting of ICC. After which Pakistan seemed desperate to hear a ‘yes’ from BCCI. But the chances of Team India’s tour to Pakistan are negligible, no matter how big the tournament is. It is being speculated that like the Asia Cup, the Champions Trophy will also be held under the hybrid model. But amidst these reports, Pakistan has played a new trick and pleaded before the ICC. PCB has requested the ICC to convince BCCI.
Pakistan is worried about India’s participation
Pakistan is desperate for India’s participation in the Champions Trophy. But due to the relations between the two countries, BCCI is not ready to send the team. According to a PTI report, PCB has given the responsibility of convincing BCCI to the ICC. According to sources, PCB had handed over the schedule of the Champions Trophy to the ICC only after the T20 World Cup. Despite this, there was no discussion on the schedule and format in the annual meeting held in Colombo.
PCB presented the budget
According to a PTI report, ‘PCB has now done what was expected of it as the host of the Champions Trophy. The board has presented the draft schedule and format for the ICC Champions Trophy and has also presented the budget for the event. Now it depends on the ICC how quickly it negotiates the event of the Champions Trophy and takes a final decision on it. In the draft schedule, PCB has suggested hosting all India’s matches in Lahore, including the semi-finals (if India qualifies) and the final.’
Pakistan government gave approval
Another source said that PCB has given all its documents to ICC for the Champions Trophy. PCB has given ICC written approval for tax, venue selection and Pakistan government’s hosting of the Indian team in Pakistan. At present no decision has been taken on this. It is possible that BCCI and PCB may hold a meeting regarding the Champions Trophy.
