Iran will not attack Israel! President warned Supreme Leader Khomeini about the danger
Iran’s President Masoud Pezeshkian wants the country to avoid a war with Israel. He has requested the country’s Supreme Leader Ali Khamenei to avoid attacking Israel. He has told Khamenei that it would be better to avoid war, citing the bad impact of this war on Iran as well as the entire region and his position. Iran International has made this claim in a report quoting sources close to the government. This has come at a time when Iran has threatened to directly attack Israel to avenge the killing of Hamas leader Ismail Haniyeh in Tehran.
According to Iran International, in a recent meeting with Khamenei, President Masoud Pezeshkian urged him to stop any direct Iranian attack on Israel, so as to avoid an unwanted war. Masoud warned that this conflict could seriously disrupt his presidency and create many big problems. He said that Israel’s retaliatory attack against Iran’s national infrastructure and energy resources could cripple the Iranian economy and lead to the country’s collapse.
Will Khomeini listen to the President’s advice?
The President also said during this time that some people are calling his demand a lack of experience in military matters, but this is not the truth. His opposition to military action is rooted in national interest. He stressed that a war with Israel would pose an economic challenge. Iran’s international position would also be harmed. Despite his President’s serious warning and appeal, Khomeini does not seem to be backing down from the attack. According to the report, Khomeini listened to Pezeshkian’s concerns but neither supported nor opposed them. He did not give any indication that the attack would not be carried out.
The Iranian President’s personal appeal to Khomeini to avoid war is contrary to his public statements. He has publicly confirmed Iran’s right to react to Hania’s murder. However, he has largely refrained from using provocative language and has even told world leaders that Tehran does not want to escalate tensions.
Masoud Pezeshkian was elected president in the elections held after the death of Iranian President Ibrahim Raisi in a helicopter crash. He was sworn in last month after winning the election. Hamas leader Ismail Haniyeh had come to Tehran to attend his swearing-in ceremony. Haniyeh was killed in an attack in Tehran on the night of July 31, after which Iran is furious.
