The continuous landslides and land subsidence in the Himalayan areas have filled this beautiful area of Dayara Bugyal with cracks and debris. After which the existence of Dayara Bugyal is also in danger.
Dayara Bugyal also in the grip of landslide
Dayara Bugyal is considered to be the epitome of heavenly beauty. Where every year the locals of Uttarkashi play Holi of butter, buttermilk and curd to thank nature. People come here not only from the country but also from abroad to see its natural beauty. But today Dayara Bugyal, which is full of natural beauty, is also in the grip of landslide.
Dayara Bugyal comes under the sinking zone
According to the DFO of Uttarkashi, Dayara Bugyal actually comes under a sinking zone. The DFO said that the entire upper area from Bhatwadi to Dayara Bugyal is a subsidence area. As soon as the area below subsides, cracks start appearing in the Bugyal above. With time, these cracks are getting wider.
Why is the velvet grassland cracking?
So when it rains, water enters these cracks. Due to this, landslides and subsidence in Dayara Bugyal have started increasing even more rapidly. Let us tell you that in the year 2019-20 also, pictures of landslides and subsidence from Dayara Bugyal had come to the fore. Then the Forest Department had ordered and laid care nets made from jute and coconut fibers from Odisha. So that landslides and subsidence could be reduced. But now these efforts have become a thing of the past.
Recently, during the Andhuri festival, once again, frightening pictures of landslides and cracks in Dayara Bugyal have come to the fore. One of the biggest reasons behind this is the increasing human intervention here. These Bugyals are being exploited continuously. Due to which the delicate eco-system here has started scattering like dry leaves.
However, it is not the first time that people are going to these Bugyals. Earlier also people used to go to these Bugyals to graze their cattle. They used to leave their cattle here for several months. Now due to increasing tourism, the condition of these Bugyals is becoming even worse.
