Uttarakhand: Voices raised across the state; Hiding failure by spreading hatred will not work!
Today, representatives of opposition parties and various public organizations gathered at various places across Uttarakhand and raised their voice that the ruling party is trying to divert the attention of the public from its failures by protecting the criminals who torture women, blaming a particular community and by hate violence in Chamoli and other places. It is a matter of great shame that incidents of atrocities on women are constantly coming to the fore in the state and leaders of the ruling party are also accused in two such incidents. There are also allegations from the victims that the administration is protecting them. But instead of taking action on this issue, the leaders of the ruling party and organizations close to them are constantly promoting violence and hate crimes. By submitting a memorandum, the protesters demanded that the government should establish One Stop Center, Supreme Court’s 2018 decision and other necessary administrative arrangements to take strict action on both crimes against women and hate crimes. On the contrary, they are being abolished now. The provisions of the new Indian Penal Code, especially section 197(1)(b), are not being implemented even though the ruling party claims to be proud of the new criminal codes.
The memorandum submission programmes were held in Dehradun, Chamiyala, Salt, Udham Singh Nagar, Pauri, Garud, Kapkot, Ukhimath, Than Dangoli, Deghat, Danya, Pithoragarh and other places today. Representatives of CPI, CPM, CPI(ML), Samajwadi Party, Uttarakhand Parivartan Party and Aam Aadmi Party along with representatives of Sadbhavna Samiti Uttarakhand, Samajwadi Lok Manch, Chetna Andolan, Rachnatik Mahila Manch, Mahila Kisan Adhikar Manch, Van Panchayat Sangharsh Morcha, CITU, AITUC, All India Kisan Sabha, Jan Manch Pithoragarh and many other organisations took part in these programmes.
