Women’s T20 World Cup: Pakistan lost face with a shameful defeat, ruined itself, ruined Team India too, New Zealand in the semi-finals

In the Women’s T20 World Cup 2024, the Indian team was hoping that the Pakistan team would do some miracle and defeat New Zealand, but it did not happen. With the excellent performance of the spin bowlers led by left-arm spinner Nasra Sandhu, the Pakistan women’s cricket team stopped New Zealand at a score of 110 runs for 6 wickets in the last match of Group-A. They had to cross this score in 10.4 overs to reach the semi-finals, but it did not happen. Their entire team could score only 56 runs, while New Zealand won the match by 54 runs and qualified for the semi-finals.

If Pakistan had won this match even after 10.4 overs, the Indian team would have got a ticket to the semi-finals, but they did not let that happen either. This is the 10th defeat of the Pakistan cricket team in 12 matches against New Zealand. Such a poor record shows how weak their team is at the international level. Only captain Sana Fatima could fight for Pakistan. Apart from them, no batsman could stand up to the Kiwi bowlers.

Sana Fatima scored the highest 21 runs, while Muniba Ali scored 15 runs. Apart from these two, no batsman could cross the double-digit mark. This is the reason why the team lost all wickets in 11.4 overs and collapsed for 56 runs. Amelia Kerr took 3 wickets, Aiden Carson took 2 wickets. In this way, Australia and New Zealand have qualified for the semi-finals from Group-A.

Nasra Sandhu and Omaima Sohail did wonders

In the match, Sandhu (three wickets for 18 runs) and off-spinner Omaima Sohail (one wicket for 14 runs) kept a check on the New Zealand batsmen in the middle overs, due to which the team failed to score big. Left-arm spinner Sadia Iqbal (one wicket for 23 runs) and off-spinner Nida Dar (one wicket for 26 runs) also took one wicket each. However, Pakistan’s fielders disappointed and dropped eight catches.

Suzie Bates and Brooke Halliday helped New Zealand cross the 100 mark

For New Zealand, opener Suzie Bates scored the highest 28 runs. Apart from her, only Brooke Halliday (22) could touch the 20-run mark. New Zealand captain Sophie Devine won the toss and decided to bat first, after which Suzie Bates and Georgia Plimer (17) gave the team a cautious start by adding 39 runs in the power play. Bates opened her account with a four off the second ball of Pakistan captain Fatima Sana and then hit a four in her next over as well. Plimer also hit a boundary off the ball of the Pakistan captain.

IPL 2024 Auction: If Rishabh Pant enters the IPL auction, 5 teams will pounce on him, these 3 will want to make him their captain

Punjab Kings is a team that really needs a good captain. Young Jitesh Sharma is definitely there as a wicketkeeper, but Rishabh Pant is a big name. If he enters the auction, this team co-owned by Preity Zinta will not shy away from adding Pant to the team even at a big price. He has spent a lot on players before, but his wish to win the IPL trophy has not been fulfilled yet.

Pakistan team dropped 8 catches

Bates was lucky on the score of 14 runs when wicketkeeper Muniba Ali dropped her difficult catch on Nida’s ball. Bates got another reprieve in Omaima’s next over when Nasra failed to catch her catch. However, Nasra compensated for her mistake to some extent and got Plimer caught by Fatima to give Pakistan its first success. Omaima dropped Amelia Kerr’s catch on her own ball. The team’s half-century of runs was completed in the ninth over but Bates gave an easy catch to Nida on Nasra’s ball in the same over. She hit three fours while facing 29 balls.

Amelia (09) could not take advantage of the reprieve and was caught by Fatima on Omaima’s ball, taking New Zealand’s score to 58 runs for three wickets in the 12th over. Halliday ended the boundary drought with two fours off leg spinner Syeda Arub Shah in the 15th over. Devine was also given a reprieve by Sidra Amin at long on off Nida’s ball.

Halliday also got a reprieve off Nasra’s ball but she was stumped by Muniba in the same over of this left-arm spinner. Left-arm spinner Sadia Iqbal had Devine (19) caught by Fatima. New Zealand’s century of runs was completed in the 19th over. Pakistan dropped three catches in the last over due to which New Zealand was successful in taking its score to 110.
