Two IAS officers have come forward regarding the liquor contract suspended on the charge of running an open bar located on Rajpur Road. Let us tell you that Dehradun District Magistrate Savin Bansal suspended the license of the liquor shop for 15 days after finding irregularities during the raid. On the other hand, Excise Commissioner Harichand Semwal is adamant on getting the shop opened by putting a stay on the suspension.

Two IAS officers come face to face regarding the liquor contract

IAS Savin Bansal has been in the news since taking over the command of DM. This time the topic of discussion is not his raid but the tension with the Excise Commissioner. It is worth noting that a few days ago, the DM had received a complaint about the operation of open bars outside liquor shops. In which it was told that liquor is being served openly in the liquor shop. Due to which women and girls feel uncomfortable passing by there. Taking cognizance, the DM had directed SDM Sadar to investigate.

Local people angry after Excise Commissioner opened the shop

In the investigation, it was found that a bar was being run illegally in the basement of ‘Opal Lodge Building’. After which the DM had issued a challan of five lakhs to the operator. Along with this, the license of the shop was suspended for 15 years. The dispute started when the Excise Commissioner issued orders to open the shop by giving a stay contrary to the order of the DM. As soon as the information about the opening of the shop was received, the local people started protesting against it. After which DM Bansal refused to open the shop.

DM asked the reason from the Excise Commissioner

District Magistrate Savin Bansal has told Excise Commissioner Semwal that whatever allegations have been made against the shop. They have also been confirmed in the investigation. After all, why has a stay order been given on the suspension of the shop. Bansal asked which rule or section has been used in giving the stay. Let us tell you that Excise Commissioner Harichand Semwal gave a stay order on the suspension but did not give any reason behind it. The dispute between the two IAS officers does not seem to end at the moment.
