BJP cannot win on its own in Maharashtra but… what did Devendra Fadnavis say before the elections?
As the Maharashtra elections are getting closer, the contest is getting interesting. Mahayuti and Maha Vikas Aghadi have geared up for the Maharashtra elections to be held on November 20. Meanwhile, the BJP itself believes that it cannot win the Maharashtra battle on its own. Maharashtra Deputy CM Devendra Fadnavis said that the BJP will not be able to form the government in the state on its own, but it will emerge as the largest party in the assembly elections.
At NDTV’s Marathi Conclave, Devendra Fadnavis said that the Mahayuti will get an edge to form the government in the state. Pointing to the ground reality of the Mahayuti, Devendra Fadnavis said, ‘BJP cannot win the Maharashtra elections alone, but will become the largest party with the most votes and seats. We will jointly form the Mahayuti government with Shiv Sena led by CM Eknath Shinde and NCP led by Deputy CM Ajit Pawar.’
Devendra Fadnavis further said, ‘Usually I do not like to predict the number of seats. But I have to tell you that Mahayuti will get an edge in the state. We will get a comfortable majority to form the government. I feel sad when many candidates do not get tickets. But in a pre-poll alliance, we have to make adjustments. No one can say that we want the votes of other parties, but cannot adjust their candidates.’
The BJP has so far announced candidates for 121 out of 288 constituencies in the state. On the other hand, the Maha Vikas Aghadi has also announced its candidates on most of the seats. Let us tell you that voting is on November 20 in the state and the election results will be declared on November 23.
