Uttar Pradesh / Shahjahanpur: Elderly people who went out for morning walk were run over by a car, two people including a utensil trader died
Three elderly persons including a utensil trader who had gone out for a walk in Jalalabad of Shahjahanpur on Thursday morning were crushed by an Eco car on Katra Highway. Two people died on the spot in the accident. Their third companion was seriously injured.
Vinod Gupta alias Gurkhe (60), a utensil trader resident of Mohalla Gopalnagar of Jalalabad, his companion Krishnapal Kushwaha (64), resident of Mohalla Gandhinagar and 63-year-old Ramraksh Pal Mishra, resident of Dayalnagar locality, had gone out for a walk at 4:30 in the morning.
It is said that as soon as they reached Bareilly Highway in front of Shriram Talkies, a high-speed Eco car coming from Bareilly crushed the three elderly persons while trying to avoid an e-rickshaw. The speed of the vehicle was so high that it broke the iron railing on the side of the highway.
They died on the spot
Vinod Gupta alias Gurkhe and Krishnapal Kushwaha died on the spot in the accident. Ramraksh Pal was seriously injured. The Eco car was damaged in the accident. People caught the driver who was trying to escape.
The police sent the injured elderly man to the hospital, from where he was referred to the Government Medical College. Police station in-charge Pradeep Kumar Rai said that both the bodies have been sent for post-mortem. Further action will be taken after receiving the complaint.
