Uttarakhand / Champawat: Women are being harassed under the pretext of taking measurements of clothes, VHP demands appointment of women workers

In Champawat, Vishwa Hindu Parishad has alleged that women are being molested in the guise of taking measurements of clothes. VHP says that in Lohaghat town of Champawat district, ladies tailor shops have been opened by outsiders to stitch clothes for women.

VHP city president Amit Shah and Bajrang Dal and VHP workers alleged that women are being measured by men in ladies clothes tailoring shops. Women are molested in the name of measurements. Many cases have come to their notice. But women remain silent due to fear of public shame.
VHP demanded the appointment of women workers
On Friday, Bajrang Dal and VHP workers under the leadership of VHP city president Amit Shah met SDM Lohaghat Rinku Bisht and Tehsildar Jagdish Singh Negi regarding this serious matter. They have demanded to appoint women workers to take measurements of women in women tailoring shops. So that women can give measurements without any hesitation and avoid incidents of molestation.
Memorandum also submitted to SDM
VHP workers have demanded verification of outsiders working in the city’s barber shops and fixing of rates. They said that new faces are seen in barber shops every other day. They submitted a memorandum to the SDM regarding the matter. Along with this, they have warned of agitation if the demand is not met within 15 days.
SDM Lohaghat Rinku Bisht has taken the matter seriously and assured of quick action in the matter. SDM Rinku Bisht said that strict instructions have been given to EO Nagar Palika and police in the matter. Necessary action will be taken by verifying ladies tailor and barber shops and holding a meeting with these people soon. Tehsildar Jagdish Singh Negi has also assured of investigation in the matter.
